ABOUT
Wael Romdhane lives sport.
Wael combines experience from professional football, the Big Four, and sports modeling. This mix has given him a clear and practical understanding of the sports world and the people who shape it. His path through sport and business allows him to look at the industry from multiple angles and bring meaningful insight to the work he does.
Wael is an alumnus from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University and holds a degree in Business Administration and has a diploma in Sports Management.
Born in 1996 to make dreams come true.
Wael lives by the motto "Will finds a way."
At just four years old he joined a local football team in Heerenveen. Soon he joined the youth academy and also played for the youth teams of Heerenveen. In 2017 Romdhane got scouted by RKC Waalwijk. He trained and played friendly games on trial basis during the season with the club but did not sign.

In January 2018, Wael traveled to the United States to chase his dream of becoming a professional football player while continuing his studies. His journey started in Los Angeles, where he explored opportunities around the American ‘soccer’ and college system. During this period, including pre-season, he also tried out for the LA Galaxy U23 team. He did not secure a scholarship or a contract, but he stayed motivated and kept looking for his next chance.
That search eventually took him to Washington D.C., where he explored opportunities at George Washington University and with the Richmond Kickers, then part of the USL Championship. It was not the outcome he hoped for, but the experience only sharpened his hunger to keep going.
When he returned to the Netherlands, Wael came back with even more determination. That drive led him to sign with Achilles'29, marking an important new chapter in his football journey.
Adventures in the United States

Netherlands and Tunisia
Despite the financial struggles at Achilles'29, the club gave Wael something rare: the chance to lead and prove himself. He became captain and earned the opportunity to show his qualities to professional teams. This period became an important step in his career, allowing him to compete in both the U23 Eredivisie and at First Division (highest tier).
After a strong personal season, several opportunities came his way. He eventually chose to sign with US Ben Guerdane in the summer of 2019, drawn by an exciting project that brought together international players. The team finished fourth in the Tunisian Ligue 1 Pro and qualified for the CAF Confederations Cup.
Unfortunately, a persistent back injury held him back. He returned to the Netherlands to focus on his recovery, but the injury never fully healed. After more than twenty years in the sport, he eventually had to make the difficult decision to step away from football.

University and Post Football Career
Wael holds a Business Administration degree from the Rotterdam School of Management at Erasmus University and later pursued a Master's in Accounting and Finance. He also completed a diploma in Sports Management, reflecting his long-standing interest in the industry.
After his playing career, Wael worked as a professional football consultant and intermediary, advising players and clubs on development, opportunities, and strategy. He built relationships across the football world, identified talent, and supported athletes in making informed decisions about their careers.
He then moved into the business sector and joined the Big Four, working at both PwC and Deloitte. His experience in sport, combined with his academic background, gave him a perspective that naturally fits his current work at the Ministry of Sport, where he brings together everything he has learned on and off the field.
Wael grew up speaking several languages, which allows him to navigate different cultures and environments with ease.

Modeling Career
Wael’s modeling career began in 2017, almost by surprise, when agencies started approaching him with opportunities. What started as something small quickly grew into work across the Netherlands, the United States and Europe. His presence in front of the camera caught the attention of Max Models, the leading agency in the Netherlands, who signed him shortly after.
Since 2022, Wael has been part of Max Models’ “The Specials,” a division focused on sports and lifestyle talent. His portfolio now includes collaborations with brands like Under Armour, VodafoneZiggo, KNVB and Swapfiets, showcasing the crossover between his athletic background and the world of fashion and content creation.
